The faculty of national instruments was created in 1950.
In 1992 it was renamed into «Faculty of oriental music»
Dean of the faculty is a senior lecturer Turapov Zulhorbek Zajnabidinovich

There are four departments at the faculty.

Department of «Uzbek national instruments» , professor A.K.Lutfullaev is the chief of the department. The department prepares specialists teachers performing on national instruments, soloists - concert performers, artists of ensembles and orchestras of national instruments who propagandize performing art on national instruments. A.Adylov- Honored worker of arts of Republic of Uzbekistan, M.Toirov the Honored artist of Uzbekistan, M.Tashmuhamedov, B.Rahimzhanov conduct teaching and performing activity

Department of «Traditional musical performing», professor R.K.Kosimov is the chief of the department. The department basically prepares professional performers of the traditional arts, teachers, soloists - concert performers, artists of ensembles who propagandize traditional performing. People artists: T.Alimatov, Z.Sujunova and People’s Kafiz M.Tozhiboev - are honored workers of the department.

Department of «Orchestral conducting», professor F.R.Abdurahimova is the chief of the department. The faculty prepares conductors of national orchestras and ensembles of various structure and teachers on conducting.

Department «Languages», Z.Nasullaev is the chief of the department;

Such students as F.Shafoatov (the first Prize), E.Karimov (the second Prize), K.Bozorov (the third prize) are the winners of the international competition “ the Cup of Baikal ” which was held in the city of Ulan-Ude (Russia).
